Newton - Chestnut Hill

Chestnut Hill, six miles west of downtown Boston, is one of the most affluent villages in the country. Encompassing parts of three separate municipalities, Newton, Brookline and Boston, it also stretches across three different counties. It is served by three branches of the Green Line of the MBTA, the B, C, and D lines.

Chestnut Hill is a series of small hills that overlook the Chestnut Hill Reservoir which covers 135 acres. If jogging is your thing, the reservoir has a 1.56 mile jogging loop. The area around Chestnut Hill was developed in 1870 by Frederick Law Olmstead, the architect of New York’s beautiful Central Park.

Parts of Chestnut Hill have been named to the National Register of Historic places. The beautiful mansions and estates are fine examples of Victorian, Tudor, Colonial and Italianate architecture.
