Mattapan - Boston

In the 1600's, the Mattahunt Tribe was one of the original inhabitants of the Mattapan area. Since that time, a large variety of Boston immigrants have moved in and called Mattapan home.

A Boston Public Library measuring 21,000 square feet is being planned for the Mattapan neighborhood. It will be placed next to the Mildred Avenue Middle School and Community Center, making for a fantastic community resource.

The Mattapan Economic Development Initiative has recently been enacted by Mayor Menino. This collaboration of residents, non-profits, businesses, and city agencies has been structured to encourage investment, employment, and economic growth in the neighborhood.
