0 Boston Real Estate Jobs

Boston real estate jobs. The more things change, the more they stay the same. It seems to me that everyone is always trying to be the “next big thing” but I never see anything truly revolutionary except an Android app or two. Clearly the real estate market isn’t what it was five years ago. As a real estate agent, certainly this isn’t news to you. However, have you thought about how it affects brokers and business structure overall? If you haven’t, you may have missed out on some opportunities…or, you may just now be realizing that you are getting the short end of the stick. Here’s a quick analysis of the market for Boston real estate jobs over the past couple of years and what things you may need to take a closer look at if you are currently working in the industry…

Roll back the clock to last year. Boston rental agencies had been puffing up their chests waiting for the impending deluge of new rental clients as sales were plummeting and people were no longer available to afford mortgages. At this point, business owners should have seen the writing on the wall and began to scale back spending in order to preserve their agent’s livelihoods. After all, a year of mediocre gains to a broker is far more favorable to losing your agents to a bad market. Sadly, most Boston real estate brokerages would rather turn and burn their agents through a revolving door than make concessions to help them prosper in a rough market.

As a result, most companies were not prepared to deal with the lack of income that marked the average bottom line for Boston real estate brokerages in 2010. Agents began to leave their companies in order to pick up more stable income. That’s when brokers started offering Boston real estate jobs with ridiculous commission splits just to put some sort of team together. At this point, agents could have locked in a nice split for themselves (although whether brokers have rearranged those numbers since is always a possibility).

Now we’re in 2011 and the Boston rental market is beginning to pick up. Some brokerages have gone under, some kept themselves afloat (and a very small few made the necessary concessions early on and came out relatively unscathed). But what about the agents? Now that brokers are seeing people renting again, commission splits are dropping back down and agencies are going back to running revolving doors instead of creating a business where agents know that they are the broker’s priority. Again, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Take a look at your current situation. Are you a valued part of a team or just a number at a desk? Does the owner even know your name? Is ownership trying to reorganize your pay in order to increase their profit margins or are they finding a way that you both can prosper long term? These are all serious things to consider if you plan on making any sort of career in the real estate market. Remember, Boston real estate jobs may be plentiful, but excellent opportunities are few and far between. 0 Boston Animal Hospital

Now officially open for business, the Boston Animal Hospital, located in the Boston Red Dog Pet Resort & Spa, is the place to bring your pet for all of its health care needs. Headed by Anne E. Domit, D.V.M, M.S., this full service pet hospital can handle all of your pet care needs from basic check-ups to emergencies. Once the Boston Animal Hospital goes full 24 hours (which should be only a short time from now), you can have piece of mind knowing that your pet’s health can be attended to at any time.

Most pet owners in Boston know that if they have an emergency, they have to drive all the way out to Jamaica Plain for assistance. The time it takes to drive your pet out there can mean all the difference in a emergency situation. You can’t afford to waste time in traffic or on the T if your pet’s life is in danger.

Thankfully, now that the Boston Animal Hospital has opened its brand new facilities, this isn’t a problem. Pet owners from the North End to the South End have a new, much more accessible pet clinic to rely on. Right off of Massachusetts Avenue at 274 South Hampton St., this centrally located animal hospital serves all of Boston.

If you hadn’t already read about it, the Boston Animal Hospital will be part of the massive Boston Red Dog pet facility. This enormous new undertaking is one of the most comprehensive pet centers on the East Coast. With a full retail outlet that dwarfs most Boston pet stores, to an amazing boarding facility, down to a gorgeous aquatic center for dog care and rehabilitation, Boston Red Dog has absolutely EVERYTHING you need as a pet owner in one stop. There really is no reason to go anywhere else.

When was the last time your pet had a check-up? Why don’t you make an appointment at the Boston Animal Hospital today for a little added piece of mind. While you’re their, you can tour the center to see everything Boston Red Dog has to offer. You will be amazed.

0 New Vet Clinic In Boston’s South End

If you read our blog with any regularity, you know that most of us at AAB are pet owners, myself included. Having owned well over 50 cats in my lifetime (seriously, I was the old cat lady of my town by age 13), I know that having a capable, trustworthy vet clinic is invaluable. Your pets mean the world to you and you want to entrust their care to the best. Having recently had the pleasure of visiting a brand new vet clinic in Boston’s South End, I wanted to share my experience with our readers and fellow pet owners.

'I basically funded Purina in the 90s.'

The newly constructed Boston Red Dog Pet Resort & Spa, located at 274 Southampton Street in the South End, is nothing short of amazing. This all encompassing business offers everything from a well stocked pet store, to a boarding center that make some Boston hotels look inadequate, to a veterinary clinic comprised of state of the art equipment and an experienced staff. This South End vet clinic is THE place to bring your pet for absolutely anything.

There really isn’t anything that I found lacking during my tour. The dog boarding rooms have flat screen televisions so that your pooch can watch Animal Planet at its leisure…seriously. There is even a dog pool in the day care center. The cat center has its share of perks as well. If you are boarding a few cats at a time, they can be housed next to each other and allowed to roam back and forth between habitats so that they feel more comfortable. They even have separate litter box rooms off of their main housing area. In all my years as a pet owner in Boston, I have never seen such a well thought out facility.

Boston Vet and Animal Boarding

Frankly, whether you live in the South End or any other part of Boston, this is the veterinary center you need to bring your pet to. I encourage you to stop by and see for yourself. You will be amazed. Boston Red Dog has set the bar for vets in Boston, MA.

0 Boston Real Estate Agents On Facebook

Facebook IconI need to fire off on something quickly that seems to be a problem among a good amount of real estate agents in Boston. Some of you are making negative comments about your clients in public forums. I came across two examples of this by 11 a.m. this morning alone. This is simply unacceptable. You CAN NOT go on Facebook and rant about a client. Talking about people’s financial situations? Inexcusable. Going into other personal details? You are risking your license and a law suit against the company you work for.

Maybe you don’t mix work contacts into your personal Facebook account. Make no mistake, this in no way keeps your comments confidential. Just a few weeks ago I had a client tell me that she found me on Facebook. Even though my profile is completely private, she was able to relay information back to me about things on my page because we had a mutual friend who isn’t blocked by my privacy settings. It only takes one phone call to that friend to look into the type of person I am (which Facebook seems to be the barometer for these days whether you like it or not).

Thankfully, I keep my posting PG for just this reason. You can’t afford to have clients reading about “that” story from the other night. You certainly can’t post information about clients. Even if you don’t post their names, its absolutely unacceptable.

1. You owe your client complete confidentiality.
2. You have a company and brand that you represent and need to do so properly.
3. If nothing else, you WILL lose business by speaking negatively about clients.

Treat your clients and colleagues with respect.
